Can ancient Chinese metaphysics predict the weather better than a modern app? Read how an everyday I Ching forecast accurately predicted a thunderstorm's exact duration.

Have you ever heard the sound of thunder and wondered exactly when the rain was going to fall? Most of us immediately reach for our smartphones to check the local weather app. But today, I decided to try something entirely different—and the results completely blew me away.

Instead of relying on modern meteorology, I turned to the ancient art of Chinese metaphysics. Here is the story of how an impromptu I Ching forecast accurately predicted a thunderstorm down to the hour, beating the official weather forecast in the process.

The Intuitive Nudge to Forecast

The day started normally. I was in the middle of a routine parenting task—putting my child to sleep—when I felt a sudden, strong urge to do a weather forecast after I heard thunder.

Looking out the window into the afternoon sky, I noticed it was getting increasingly hazy, accompanied by strong, erratic winds. Common sense (and a quick glance outside) would lead most people to the same basic conclusion: a thunderstorm is brewing.

But I didn't just want to know if it would rain. I wanted to know exactly how the event would unfold. So, I leaned into my knowledge of Chinese metaphysics to get some answers.

Doing the I Ching Reading

I performed my first forecast at 1230pm with a specific question in mind: What is the weather going to do? The reading was clear: A thunderstorm is imminent.

I didn't want to stop there. The true test of any forecasting method is in the details, so I performed a second reading to determine the storm's duration.

The second forecast revealed a very specific timeline: The storm is moving away and will end in exactly three hours.

Based on the reading, I confidently went to my wife, and I told her that a massive thunderstorm was coming, but she shouldn't worry because the rain would completely stop by 3:30 PM. She wasn't amazed as she already got used to my impromptu forecasts.

The Results: Metaphysics in Action

What happened next was nothing short of amazing.

Right on cue, the thunderstorm rolled in. It was heavy and intense, just as the sky had threatened earlier. But I kept my eye on the clock, waiting to see if my three-hour prediction would hold up.

At about 3 PM, the rain is almost gone and sky is getting bright. By 3:30 PM, the heavy clouds parted, and the sky completely cleared up. The storm had lasted for exactly three hours, mirroring the forecast to the letter.

Ancient Wisdom vs. The Modern Weather App

Curious to see what the modern experts had to say, I finally went online to check the official local weather forecast for the day.

Here is what the meteorological app had predicted:

12:00 PM to 2:00 PM: Possible thunderstorms.

5:00 PM to 7:00 PM: Rain gradually tapering off.

You can use my location at Tengah, Singapore for verification as I was at that location when I did the i ching forecast.

The Takeaway: The modern weather forecast predicted a lingering storm that wouldn't clear up until the early evening. The I Ching forecast, done with zero prior knowledge of the official weather report, predicted a definitive end at 3:30 PM—which is exactly what happened in reality.

Final Thoughts

It is incredibly easy to overlook ancient practices in our technology-driven world. We assume that satellites and supercomputers always know best.

However, today's experience was a powerful reminder of the accuracy and deep wisdom embedded in these traditional systems. Ancient Chinese metaphysics continues to amaze me, and I am absolutely blown away by how practical, precise, and useful it was in my daily life today.

This is for the month of April 2026.

  1. There will be an unexpected forest fire in Republic of Congo, somewhere in the Tshopo Province. It is unexpected as the weather should be turning wet, but the risk of forest fire actually increases.

  2. There will be a major hacking event, and intermittent disruption to internet connectivity around the world. The cause is due to the underlying sea cable near Turkey.

  3. US and Iran will find an agreement to end the war between them, an agreement will be made, and a new set of order will be established in the region.

For point 3, it is no longer news as it has already happened. The peak energy for these to happen is actually near the mid of April 2026.

Forecast: It will happen between late March to late April 2026.

  1. There will be an increased human related activity in the Pacific Ocean, and we will see more fishes like Tuna and/or Billfish.

  2. A few countries will come together and enter into agreement(s) regarding issues on Pacific Ocean. The countries are Saudi Arabia, China, Japan, and likely Russia.

  3. Fish prices may reduce slightly due to the increase Tuna population.

This forecast was made a few weeks ago, but I was only able to find time today =) I will update this probably in late April 2026 to see if we are seeing anything that can validate the forecast!
