Chinese Metaphysics, often called Chinese Fortune Telling or Divinatory Arts, is a practice with a history spanning thousands of years. While many people use these terms, I prefer to call it Chinese Metaphysics.
I feel this name is more fitting because practices like Zi Wei Dou Shu (Purple Star Astrology, zwds) were developed based on astronomical observations made in the eastern regions of the world. It’s a broader, more accurate term. I also find the phrase "fortune telling" has too many negative connotations. I see these readings not as rigid predictions of your fate, but as a form of art—a way to gain insight and clarity.
Chinese Metaphysics includes many powerful forms of divination. One of the most prominent is Zi Wei Dou Shu, an ancient art once reserved for the Chinese royal family. Another is Ba Zi (Four Pillars of Destiny), which is also widely used and celebrated for its accuracy. While these systems may differ, they all share a common purpose: to help us foresee and predict potential paths in our lives.
Regardless of the form, these practices rarely conflict with one another; instead, they offer different perspectives on the same ultimate objective. In fact, Chinese Metaphysics consist of 5 different arts, and it is not just about fortune telling or divination, traditional Chinese medicine is also a part of it.
No matter which art of form you start off with, we will likely end up with the same set of knowledge, just in a different expression. Chinese Metaphysics have been extremely helpful for me, and I hope you will find insights as well.
